Maria da Conceição Costa (née Silva) was born on 8 December 1899 in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel, Azores, Portugal. In 1920 she came to New Bedford, Massachusetts, arriving aboard the SS Patria.
On 22 October 1921 she married Manuel Costa in Fall River, Massachusetts. They had one child, Ellie. Maria lived on Columbia Street, Fall River, Massachusetts in 1940. She died in 1988 in Fall River. She is buried at Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River, Massachusetts.
