About Joe
Joseph “Joe” Halloran was born on 14 July 1920 in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of John Patrick Halloran and Anna Weber. He graduated in Dorchester, Massachusetts in 1938 (Dorchester High School). The tree records his military service from 1942 to 1945: U.S. Navy, Pacific; machinist's mate aboard USS Hammond. The tree notes “Honorably discharged, Machinist's Mate Second Class” (discharge, 2 November 1945). From 1947 to 1985 he worked as a machinist at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy, Massachusetts.
In the spring of 1947 Joe married Eleanor Costa at Saint Anne's Church, Fall River, Massachusetts. They had three children, Cathy, Tom and Mike. He lived on Sydney Street, Dorchester, Massachusetts in 1950. The tree notes “Bought the Wellfleet cottage the family had rented every August since 1958” (property, 1968, Wellfleet, Massachusetts). He retired in June 1985. Joe died on 2 March 2004 in Boston, at the age of 83. He is buried at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester, Massachusetts.
